Located in the center of southeast Zhejiang Province, Yiwu boasts a strategic position, which is only 300km away from Shanghai, and 120km away from Hangzhou. Bordering Guangdong and Fujian in the south, linked to Shanghai economic zone in the north, facing the premier port of East China —Ningbo. Yiwu is accelerating its expanding of traffic network to the main cities of China.

Yiwu has a coverage of 1,105 km² area. While listed by China State Council as one of the 18 typical areas for strategy of reform and opening-up, Yiwu became the10th national comprehensive reform pilot area after Shanghai Pudong New Areas and Tianjin Binhai New Areas.
